FACTS & BENEFITS
TESTING: The NEW Adhesive Roof Tarp has been proven to withstand hurricane-force winds of 110 miles per hour with 8.8 inches (22 cm) per hour of wind-driven rain without releasing! This testing was done by an independent testing laboratory, PRI Construction Technologies in Tampa, Florida, which is a Miami-Dade County-approved testing laboratory for roofing product analysis and certification. This testing proved that the Easy Tarp meets the rigid Florida Building Code TAS 100-95 standard on an Altusa-S barrel tile roof. This testing was done with a properly installed tarp on a brand-new roof section professionally built to current South Florida codes. We do not make any warranty as to the windspeed the Easy Tarp will withstand since its performance depends upon various factors including the quality of the installation and the strength of the surface it was applied to.
RECOGNIZED: The Easy Tarp is the next generation of roof tarp and has already been recognized by leading roofing industry publications such as Roofing Contractor Magazine (October 2008) and Professional Roofing Magazine (November 2008). It is a UV-treated heavy-duty adhesive roof tarp that revolutionizes the way a tarp is applied because it does not cause any penetrating damage to install, -- it sticks!
FAQ
Will the Easy Tarp stick to every kind of roof?
We have tested the Easy Tarp on tiles, asphalt shingles, wood shingles, and metal roofs, and it works great on all of these. Of course, the tarp will not adhere well unless you clean away all loose material, such as sand, gravel, leaves, and so on, so that the tarp can stick to firm roof materials. Remember, if the roof materials themselves come loose from the roof, the tarp will come loose with them. If you have any doubt, then nail through each corner of the tarp with a tin cap to help the tarp secure to the roof deck.
Can I install the Easy Tarp on a wet roof?
A wet roof is very dangerous, it is extremely easy to slip on a wet roof and fall off. We really strongly recommend that you wait until the roof is dry to install our tarp or ANY tarp. Also, the adhesive will not reach full strength if installed under standing water, as you might have on a flat roof. If installed on a damp roof, the adhesive will work fine and reach full strength, but it may take up to 24 hours to do so.
Can the Easy Tarp be used more than once?
No. If it could be easily removed then the adhesive would not be doing its job. The purpose of the adhesive along the edges is to secure the tarp as strong as a nail would without creating the penetrating damage even during heavy winds.
Does the Easy Tarp come in a size larger than 10’ x 12’?
No. Anything larger than 10’ x 12’ is hard for a single person to handle. The Easy Tarp was created with the idea in mind that it would be easy to install by a single person.
What do I do if I need to cover an area larger than 10’ x 12’?
Simply allow a 2" to 3" overlap between one Easy Tarp and another until you’ve covered the desired area. Please review the installation instructions included with your product insert for more info.
How can a roofer or insurance appraiser inspect the damage under the tarp?
We strongly recommend that you take pictures of the damaged area before covering it with a tarp. If you nevertheless need to look under the white tarp, cut an "x" shaped opening in the middle no more than 5' x 5' across, and resecure it with a 6' x 6' Easy Tarp (sold separately). With our new natural tarp you can just simply see directly below!
Where do I store my Easy Tarp?
Your Easy Tarp should be stored in a cool dry place, never in a hot garage, as high temperatures can compromise the adhesive’s performance and shelf life.
How do I remove the Easy Tarp when I am done with it?
The Easy Tarp is designed to be removed by a roofing professional using a hot solvent or discarded along with the roof tiles or shingles being replaced. If you must remove the tarp yourself, cut off the area that does not have adhesive on it and then peel off as much of the remaining tarp as you can. A solvent like Goo-Gone may help to remove the residue.
